Hi! My name is Julia Berg and I am an artist based in Chicago. From a young age I have always loved creating art, and have focused on realism with drawing and oil painting. After earning my BFA from the University of Arizona in 2019, I began exploring new materials and mediums, which led me to working with resin and creating ocean-inspired pieces.
That process taught me to loosen my grip on perfection and embrace the unexpected, learning that flaws are not mistakes, but part of the story.
My current work embraces the imperfections and natural cycles of the earth.
Using molding paste, sand, mineral pigments and acrylic paint, I create abstract, earth-toned pieces inspired by natural surfaces such as stone, sand, and weathered landscapes. The process is intuitive and intentional, focused on building layers that feel grounded and organic.
My art embodies the connection to nature. It’s less about capturing a specific moment, and more about evoking a feeling. A reminder to slow down, stay present, and find beauty in the organic and imperfect.
